Men’s Center - The former YMCA Lounge located in Wilder Hall.
Mock Convention - Oberlin College students participated in a mock political convention every presidential election. This long-standing tradition faded in the late 1960’s when students gained the right to vote.
Moffett, William A. - Director of the college libraries and professor of History from 1979-1990.
Mudd Learning Center - Opened in 1974, this monolithic building houses the main library as well as the computing center, audiovisual services, and college archives.
Mudd Library - See Mudd Learning Center.
Neil, Robert - Professor of History from 1960 to 1988. He died in 1991.
Newscope - A twice weekly publication of timely events, lost and found, and miscellaneous announcements.
Noah Hall - A medium co-ed north-campus residence hall known for its Georgian architecture and fabulous lounges completed in 1932. The dorm serves upperclass students only.

Norris, William (Bill) - Professor of Sociology since 1978.
Oberlin College Gay Liberation - The student organization housed in Wilder Hall from 1971 to 1979.
Oberlin College Gay Union - The student lesbian and gay organization housed in Wilder Hall from 1979 to 1984.
Oberlin College Lesbian and Gay Union - The student lesbian and gay organization housed in Wilder Hall from 1984 to 1988.
Oberlin Handbook - Oberlin College student rules and regulation book.
Oberlin Inn - A local hotel with restaurant, bar and meeting rooms owned by the College.

Oberlin Theater Institute - A summer program on the Oberlin campus.
`O-Hi-O’ (`O-Hi, O-Hi, O-Hi-O’) - A traditional Oberlin College song, written by Victor Vaughn Lytle ‘12.
OSCA (Oberlin Student Cooperative Association) - Currently there are seven co-operative housing and dining facilities administered by OSCA which originated in 1955.
OSTA - Oberlin Student Theater Association.
Peters Hall - Opened in 1885 in the center of campus, Peters Hall has served as a building for classroom and administrative offices. It is being remodeled to serve the international students program.
Pierce, Robert - Professor of English since 1964.
Powell, James - Professor of Geology, vice president, and provost from 1962-1982, and acting president from 1982 to 1983.
program houses - Residence halls such as Lord-Saunders, Third World, and French House where a different culture is emphasized throughout the school year.
Pyle Inn - One of the first housing and dining co-ops on campus torn down in 1964. It was located south of where Mudd Learning Center sits. The site is currently a parking lot.
Radunsky, Betty - Administrative assistant in the Financial Aid Office from 1976 until her retirement in 1989.
ramp - A large ramp which ascends from Wilder Bowl to the main entrance of Mudd Learning Center.
Rat (The Rathskeller) - A campus dining facility in the basement of Wilder Hall.
RC (Resident Coordinator) - A paid student residence-hall staff position. Often known as RA’s on other campuses, RC’s handle emergency and crisis situations, mentor, counsel, and build community in the residence hall.
Review (Oberlin Review) - The student newspaper established in 1874 and published at least weekly.
Route 58 - The primary north-south highway in Oberlin. Amherst (and Lake Erie) is north, Wellington is south.
’sco - See Dionysus Dance Club.
SCOPE - Standing Committee on Pluralism and Equity.
SCORE - Students’ Concerns and Committee for Oberlin.
Scott, Jack - Oberlin College’s athletic director from 1972 to 1974.
SDS - Students for a Democratic Society.
secret society - Oberlin forbids the presence of secret societies on campus.
Sexual Harassment Committee - Oversees complaints of sexual harassment.
