This project absolutely must include former Conservatory theory professor Bill Marvin. Although the Con (scandalously) declined to grant him tenure, he mentored a vast number of queer (and straight) Obies over the many years he spent teaching. He helped so many of my friends to come out, he welcomed “outcasts” into his home and family, he served as an informal advisor and as an inspiration. I believe he now works at NEC–someone should interview him. He was too important to Oberlin to exclude in this history.
